The sump plug is a bolt at the bottom of the sump pan, enabling oil to be drained from the engine when your vehicle is ready for an oil change. 

It is recommended that the sump plug is replaced during the oil change as they are relatively inexpensive and means that it is less likely to spilt and cause an oil leak due to it being a new part.
